United’s Frustration Grows
As the game wore on, it became clear that possession was in Manchester United’s favor, with the Red Devils controlling 68% of the ball.
However, they struggled to break down Forest’s defense. In the 15th minute, a breakaway opportunity for Forest almost led to a second goal, but United’s defense managed to recover just in time.
For United, the closest they came to scoring was in the 27th minute, following a corner kick.
Diogo Dalot’s header struck the crossbar, and despite Joshua Zirkzee and Mathijs de Ligt’s attempts to follow up on the rebound, they were unable to get the ball past Sels.
United’s frustration continued to grow as the half progressed, with Forest’s rapid counterattacks posing a constant threat.
