Early Drama as Elanga Shines
The game kicked off with Manchester United looking to assert dominance. Just minutes into the match, Bruno Fernandes had an opportunity to break the deadlock, but his shot from a loose ball was brilliantly saved by Forest’s goalkeeper Matz Sels.
United’s early pressure, however, failed to convert into a goal.
From the subsequent corner kick, United’s attempt to continue their offensive momentum was quickly halted.
What followed was a swift counterattack by Nottingham Forest, and it was none other than Anthony Elanga, the former Manchester United academy product, who made his mark.
Elanga, showing a great turn of pace and skill, expertly danced around a couple of United defenders before slotting the ball past a helpless Andre Onana in goal.
The 21-year-old Swede, who started his professional career with the Red Devils, delivered a moment of magic to give Forest a 1-0 lead in just the fifth minute, sending the home crowd into a frenzy.
